World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, 15 November 2009

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was first celebrated nationally by RoadPeace in 1993. Since then it has been observed and promoted worldwide by several non-governmental organization (NGOs).

Campaign for safer roads Jupiter Academy believes that road death and injury are a national tragedy and we need a response from the national as well as local government through the introduction of measures to provide safer road conditions and legal systems to protect vulnerable people.

“Security of citizens is a cornerstone of any democracy, along with liberty and equality.”

WHO says "India leads world in road deaths".
About 250 people die in road accidents in India everyday, which is equivalent to a plane crash having no survivors.

As 95% of the road accident victims comprise of slow moving vehicles and pedestrians, there is a need to protect this category of road users. "If we provide a safe passage to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and cyclists on our roads, who comprise 52%, 28% and 5% of road accident victims every year respectively.

The main requirement is to provide these categories of road users with adequate facilities like proper footpaths, zebra crossings, foot over bridges, subways and also dedicated cycle tracks. The other factor was controlling trucks and heavy vehicles which comprise a large percentage of the aggressors (66.3%).

Mumbai’s 26/11 killed 195 people.

Stand Up with Jupiter Academy. Support and join us on 15 November 2009 on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims”

Everyday we come across a story about someone’s loved one dying on the road and just ignore it, focusing on our day to day life.

One day, it could be anyone of us! Some loved one! Some from our family, relative or friend.

Wake Up Now!
